The Edith Kanakaʻole World Oli Festival Presents

AO: Alchemy of Oli

AO....is the Alchemy of Oli!

AO has the capacity to transmute, transform and/or transfer one kind of energy to another via Hawaiʻi chant resonance.

I invite you to study, play with, and combine different recipe elements such as melt text, literary devices, pan of place, imagery, vocal techniques, and number of other magical oli elements.....why?

Because it is one of the most primal technologies we have to rebalance your energy while benefitting the uli-verse around you....go, go, AŌŌŌŌ!

 Edith Kanakaʻole World Oli Festival

Aloha!  My name is Kekuhi Kealiikanakaole, World Oli Festival Chair.  I would like you to meet my first human chant teacher...my grandma, Edith Kanakaʻole. She was RIGHT when she said, "EVERYONE CAN CHANT"!! Not only did she teach me to chant, she also demonstrated basic teaching techniques that I still use today... because they work. I wanted to anchor the World Oli Festival in a particular wisdom directly connected to my grandmother. She is the composer of E Hō Mai Ka ʻIke, which is arguably the most frequently chanted - according to Kekuhi, of course.....mele (chant text) in the world. E Hō Mai Ka ʻIke emphasizes the importance of knowledge and its transmission through traditional Hawaiian practices like hula and oli (chanting). By honoring HER we honor the chanter in ALL of us!

Edith Kanakaʻole World Oli Festival  is an interdisciplinary conference centered on oli (Hawaiʻi chant). Oli is vibrational expression and a primary technology and mode of communication, anchored in the Hawaiʻi soundscape, that is easy to access. The pursuit of relationships in resonance with our environment can take many forms, which is why EKWOF honors multiple ways of knowing and multiple intelligences. This festival is for ANYONE interested in learning to connect to place and apply that connection to your personal and professional life. You will gain access to oli guides via our concert, backstage passes, in ʻAha, workshops, Co-Keynote presentations, and lastly an Oli Challenge. If you are curious, this is for you!
