Core Program activities are included in your registration and are at the heart of this conference/festival. They offer a diverse range of engagement and learning. Program events include:

KULUKULU-UA Chant Concert

We open the Interdisciplinary World Oli Festival with the Kulukulu-ua Chant Concert to honor time tested compositions and new chants that support the health and wellbeing of the human & more-than-human community in 2023 and beyond. Named for Hilo's benevolent 13th century chief, may Hilo's rains paka paka, kulu kulu…feeding Hilo's perpetual springs!

E OLI PŪ- Large Group Oli Time

Each day we begin with the E Oli Pū Large Group Oli Time, where we will set our intentions for the day through mele and oli. After E Oli Pū event organizers will make any important announcements for the daily program.

KANIKAWĪ KANIKAWĀ Breakout Sessions

Breakouts are daily 1-hour workshops. There will be 2-breakout sessions on Saturday, and 1-breakout on Sunday... where you will have  opportunities to learn from a wide selection of chant and/or bioacoustic experts. You will learn chants, dissect mele (poetic text), and explore topics such as sound therapy, bioacoustics, and sound vibrations.  These are open to all levels of readiness.

KANIKAWĪ KANIKAWĀブレイクアウトセッション　ブレイクアウトセッションは1時間のワークショップです。土曜日に2回、日曜日に1回のブレイクアウトセッションを開催します。幅広い分野のチャントやバイオアコースティックの専門家から学ぶ機会があります。チャントを学び、メレ（詩的の文章）を分析し、サウンドセラピー、バイオアコースティック、音の振動といったテーマを探求します。これらのセッションは、レベルを問わずどなたでもご参加いただけます。

HĀʻENA Co-Keynotes

The intention here is to facilitate a trans-cultural/interdisciplinary learning possibility...both between the Hāʻena co-keynotes (or intense breaths) and then rippling out to us. There is ONLY 1-Hāʻena presentation this year, following the E Oli Pū on Sunday--so DONʻT MISS IT! This is an opportunity where 4-experts from 4-different schools of knowledge & expertise come together and co-create a compelling and stirring presentation.  This is an 1-1/2 hour experience.

HĀʻENA共同基調講演　ここでの意図は、ハエナ共同基調講演（あるいは深い呼吸）を通して、そしてそこから波及していく、異文化・学際的な学びの可能性を促進することです。今年は、日曜日のE Oli Pūの後、Hāʻenaプレゼンテーションが1回のみ行われます。お見逃しなく！これは、4つの異なる知識と専門分野から4人の専門家が集まり、説得力と感動を与えるプレゼンテーションを共同で作り上げる機会です。1時間半の体験です。

HIʻI KE AKA Reflection Sessions

Hiʻi means to cherish; ke aka means the reflection or the mirror or the shadow.  Hiʻi-Ke-Aka sessions are 45 min-1hr sessions in the afternoon that care for or cherish individual highlights of the day.  Because you are diving into oli as a vibrational practice and because there is tons of oli going on the whole weekend, reflection becomes a necessary part of the process.  Hiʻi-Ke-Aka time is to appreciate and reflect on the learning of the day.  _{These sessions are about general learnings and are not for psychological assessments or anything like that.  I am trained in OLI--not in the psyche.}

_{HIʻI KE AKA 振り返りセッション　Hiʻiは大切にするという意味で、ke akaは反射、鏡、影を意味します。Hiʻi-Ke-Akaセッションは、午後に45分から1時間かけて、その日のハイライトとなる出来事を一つ一つ大切にしていくセッションです。オリを波動的な実践として深く掘り下げ、週末を通してたくさんのオリを行うため、振り返りはプロセスにおいて不可欠な要素となります。Hiʻi-Ke-Akaの時間は、その日の学びに感謝し、振り返る時間です。これらのセッションは一般的な学びに関するものであり、心理的な評価などを行うものではありません。私はOLIの訓練を受けてい流の出会って、精神の訓練は受けていません。}

KŪEKEOLIOLI Oli Challenge Finale

This is our grand panina (closing) of the Edith Kanakaʻole World Oli Festival. We love a good challenge, especially as the closing event. There are 3-divisions for this challenge with entries open to ʻōpio (5 yrs- 15 yrs) & kanaka oʻo (adult 16-106 yrs): 

Ulu Wale, spontaneous inspiration, for experienced chanters/haku mele (composers); 

ʻŪlāleo, for participants and students/apprentices to chant any mele that you have learned during the conference;

Leo Kuʻi, for participants, students/apprentices to explore using older chanting vocals in "modern" musicality and song; choose the mele of your choice (example: Don't Cry ʻOe by Kekuhi or Hiʻilawe by Gabby Pahinui)

ʻAHA - Applying Oli in Nature & Ritual

We will be hosting two ʻaha during the conference. These are opportunities to attune with the transitions and shifts within our environment AND to put into practice the collective learning of our community. These ceremonies are being offered as an additional add-on package because ʻAHA 1 on Saturday night includes travel by bus, access to ʻohana land, dinner & music at Uncle Roberts in Kaimū & ʻAHA 2 includes a Hilo special breakfast by Chef Shawn.  SOLD OUT

’AHA -　自然と儀式の中でオリを実践　カンファレンス期間中、2回の「アハ・セッション」を開催します。これは、私たちの環境における変化や変遷に意識を向け、コミュニティの集合的な学びを実践する機会となります。これらのセレモニーは、土曜日夜の「アハ・セッション1」にはバスでの移動、オハナ・ランドへのアクセス、カイムーのアンクル・ロバーツでのディナーと音楽が含まれており、「アハ・セッション2」にはシェフ・ショーンによるヒロ特製朝食が含まれているため、追加パッケージとしてご提供いたします。完売しました。
